Take a look at what visitors to Saltery Cove Lodge have
to say about their trip:
Ken,
Just wanted to drop you a line to let you
know what I thought of my recent trip to Kodiak Alaska. In a word,
"WOW". What you offer in a fishing trip is much more than I ever
expected.
Your lodge is just beautiful. And the view
from the front porch is also breathtaking. But before getting
ahead of myself, the trip to the lodge was everything you said it would
be. Four wheeling in the wilds of Alaska is an adventure in
itself. Bear tracks in the sand in front of me as I rode down the
trail says it all. Over mountains and through rivers. Awesome.
Once at the lodge, it didn't take me long to rig up for
the salmon. I caught salmon until my arms were tired, but I was
always aware of the bears. We saw bears everyday I was there.
Something about seeing a bear standing across the river from me that
made me realize my place in nature.
Then Halibut fishing. That is my favorite.
Launching your boat into the surf, now that was neat. And talk about
tired arms. Latching onto one of the big ones gave me a workout.
And all the time thinking about the good eating at the end of your line.
Your added treat of pulling a crab pot or two on the way back to the
shore and catching crabs for crab legs was also special.
After a fill of salmon, halibut, and crab legs for
supper, a dip in your hot tub completed the day. You have it all
Ken. What else can I say. I can not think of another fishing trip
I have taken that provided so much more than just fishing. You made me
feel at home and I enjoyed your hospitality. I think the personal
care you put into each of your guests helped to make my stay with you
even more enjoyable. I loved the trip and will be booking with you
again. I have shown my photos to my fishing buddies and I am the
envy of my fishing club. You will be hearing from of few of my
friends. Keep up the good work!
Sincerely and a special "Thank You",
Ken Sr.
Dear Ken,
Just wanted to thank you for the great time Ryan and I
had at the lodge last week. Saltery Cove is such a unique and
beautiful place it's hard to believe. I don't know where else such
an abundance of game and fish can be found so condensed. Beyond the
normal Eagle, Beaver and Deer presence, the Snow Geese we ran into were
a special treat. I hope next time we see some Brown Bears close up.
Ryan and I both enjoyed riding the four-wheelers, and the skiff ride
around the bay was outstanding. I particularly loved the Dungeness crab
and steak night we had, I think Ryan was more oriented to the popcorn,
movies and beer...haha
Thanks Again,
Daniel and Ryan Benton
I have had the fortune of being able to stay overnight
at Saltery Cove Lodge several times since it was first built. It has all
the necessities to make it the most enjoyable time spend in the great
outdoors. It is located on Saltery river and next to Saltery lake
with two other rivers, one on either side, all with silver salmon in the
fall. Saltery river has red salmon, pink salmon, silver salmon, steel
heads, rainbows and dolly vardon trout. There are buffalo, wild
horses, bears, river otters, eagles, ducks, geese and seals for the
camera man or woman. When you fish all day and come back to lodge with
your limit of fish the hosts are ready to filet all your fish and vacuum
seal and put them into freezer . The lodge is equipped with electric,
with running water, tub and shower, full kitchen with dinning room.
The evening meal is the best because you get to cook your own fish that
you caught that day. This is the best of the bestest!

Dear Saltery Cove Lodge,
In the past two years I've been fortunate to experience
over three world-class trips to your wild and beautiful location on
Kodiak Island. It's a truly amazing and rewarding
adventure filled with awesome wildlife viewing, excellent fresh and
saltwater fishing, great hunting; all of this with
friendly-knowledgeable hosts and excellent lodging and dining.
I'm already planning two more return trips this year! I set
up 5 of my nephews and cousins with your lodge last Summer and they
can't wait to return. These young men experienced deep sea
fishing for halibut, caught several trophy steelhead, and viewed
hundred's of bald eagles. Saltery Cove Lodge is truly a
world-class Alaskan experience!

Ken,
I want to thank you for the most exciting adventure I
have ever been a part of! The trip through the mountain pass into
Eugak Bay is like a dream world. It looks like a tropical rain forest
without the tropics. All of the four-wheelers performed perfectly.
The accommodations at Saltery Cove Lodge is just like the fishing!
(WORLD CLASS) The scenery and wildlife were breathtaking, the bears were
awesome. To be able to catch three species of salmon in the same stream
was really exciting. I had never tasted fresh halibut in my life until
we caught or own. Now I am spoiled. Looking back, it seems like most
outfitters only offer one type of fishing. Saltery Cove Lodge is very
unique because of all the different things you offer. When we finished a
day of catching salmon, halibut, and Dungeness crabs, the wood fired hot
tub would soak your tired arms and back and have you ready for tomorrow.
If you would like to use me as a client referral, please do so .
Thank You Again,

PS. Hope to see you this year.
